Built on one farmer’s frustration. Trusted by generations.
The Beginning of Stoltzfus Spreaders
In 1945, a Lancaster County farmer named Christian Umble “C.U.” Stoltzfus faced the same challenge many farmers still deal with today. He needed to spread lime evenly across his fields, but the equipment available at the time produced dust clouds, wasted material, and left inconsistent coverage that affected crop performance.
C.U. was not the type to accept poor results. He designed a new style of spreader that applied material low to the ground, greatly reduced dust, and produced a more even spread pattern. The design was simple, accurate, and durable. Word spread quickly and neighbors began asking for their own machines. This was the beginning of Stoltzfus Spreaders.
C.U. understood the needs of farmers because he lived the same challenges. He knew the frustration of unreliable machinery and the satisfaction that comes from doing the job right. His purpose was not only to build equipment, but to help his neighbors work more efficiently, save time, and achieve better results.
Although C.U. Stoltzfus passed away over twenty-five years ago, his philosophy continues to guide our work today. Every spreader built in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, reflects his belief in quality, accuracy, and simplicity. These values remain the foundation of our company.
Carrying the Legacy Forward

We design and build a complete line of lime, fertilizer, gypsum, chicken litter and compost spreaders. These machines are trusted by small family farms as well as large commercial operations across the United States.
Each spreader is engineered for durability, even distribution, and ease of use. They are built with heavy-duty construction, corrosion-resistant finishes, and precise metering and delivery systems. We build them to perform year after year, even in the toughest conditions.
